Description:   1 June 1966 -- The GT-9A Augmented Target Docking Adapter (ATDA)
atop an Atlas launch vehicle is launched from Kennedy Space Center's Pad 14 at 10
a.m., June 1, 1966. The ATDA achieved a near-circular orbit. One hour and 40 minutes
later, the scheduled launch of Gemini IX-A was postponed by a ground equipment
failure which prevented the transfer of updating information from Cape Kennedy
mission control center to the spacecraft computer. The mission was recycled for
launch on June 3, following a prepared 48-hour recycle plan. Anomalous telemetry
indicated some sort of problem with the ATDA, but it was not until Gemini IX-A
rendezvoused with it in orbit that it was seen that fairing separation had failed which
created the famous Angry-Alligator appearance of the ATDA.

termination of the Gemini 9 mission at 10:26 A.M. The Agena impacted in the Atlantic
approximately 160 miles east of the Cape.

Description:   Description on reverse reads:  June 3, 1966  --  A determined Gemini
9A pilot Eugene Cernan is shown during final spacesuit tests prior to his launch into
Earth orbit with command pilot Thomas Stafford June 3, 1966 from Cape Kennedy.
The mission has been delayed twice due to technical problems but got underway
when a Titan launch vehicle lifted off from Complex 19 at 8;39:33 a.m., EST. The
Gemini twins were sent to rendezvous and dock their spacecraft with a target
satellite, the Augmented Target Docking Adapter, which has been orbited June 1 by
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Astronaut Cernan was
scheduled to remain outside the orbiting Gemini spacecraft 2.5 hours attached by
tether to test a self-contained maneuvering unit.

Astronauts Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan prepare to enter spacecraft June 1
at start of their three-day rendezvous and docking mission.  The flight was
postponed, however, due to technical problems and was rescheduled for June 3 by
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.   In addition to the rendezvous
and docking exercise between the Gemini spacecraft and Augmenting Target
Docking Adapter, Astronaut Cernan will translate more than 100 feet from Gemini
spacecraft using a self-contained maneuvering unit and tether.  The mission will
span three days with splash-down scheduled to take place in the Atlantic recovery
zone.

Collins, foreground, and Command Pilot John W. Young make final checks on their
spacecraft prior to launch from Cape Kennedy on July 18, 1966.  The space pilots
were launched 100 minutes after their Agena target vehicle was orbited, the smae
one they later rendezvoused and docked with 161 nautical miles above the Pacific
ocean.  Using the Agena's propulsion system, the docked Gemini Spacecraft-Agena
rose to a record altitude of 412 nautical miles, not an objective of the three-day
rendezvous and docking flight.  Extravehicular activity were scheduled for the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Gemini 10 mission.

11 had been postponed two times due to malfunctions aboard both the titan and
Atlas launch vehicles.....

there as a joke for the space pilots to deposit on-board experiments in it before
flight.  Lovell and Aldrin rendezvoused and docked their spacecraft more than 150
miles above the earth during the last Gemini flight in the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration's program.  The space pilots were launched atop a Titan
rocket at 3;46 p.m. EST, November 11, 1966, an hour and a half after an Atlas-Agena
lifted off from adjacent Complex 14 at the Cape.

Description:  Description on reverse reads:  November 11, 1966  --  Gemini 12 pilot
Edwin Aldrin follows Command Pilot James Lovell to the elevator that carried them
to their spacecraft atop Kennedy's Launch Complex 19. The space pilots wore signs
signaling the last flight in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's
Gemini program. Lovell carried the word "the" and Aldrin, "end". They were
launched at 3:46 p.m. EST, November 11, 1966, 98 minutes after their Agena target
vehicle lifted off atop an Atlas rocket from adjacent Launch Complex 14.  The
Astronauts are scheduled to orbit their spacecraft with the Agena target satellite.
Aldrin will perform three extravehicular activities, two stand-up EVA's and one
umbilical EVA during which he will remain outside the spacecraft more than an hour
and a half to determine man's ability to work in the gravity environment.

"White Room" atop Cape Kennedy's Launch Complex 19 help Gemini 12 Astronauts
James Lovell and Edwin Aldrin into their spacecraft during today's simultaneous
launch demonstration.  The simultaneous countdowns of the Gemini-Titan and Atlas
launch vehicles determined whether all systems were functioning properly for the
scheduled November 9 flight.  The astronauts entered their spacecraft about an
hour before their simulated launch, and monitored on-board systems during the final
moments of countdown.  The upcoming four-day flight is NASA's last Gemini mission.
